“As Ohio’s flagship engineering program, and one of the best in the Midwest, we are committed to preparing the next generation of exceptional talent that our country needs,” said College of Engineering Dean Ayanna Howard. “Moreover, we are focused on building a diverse, inclusive environment and encouraging all of our students to embrace the social impact they can have as engineers.”

Total graduate enrollment at the Columbus campus increased by almost 2% to 1,884 students for the 2021-22 academic year. The increase in female graduate student enrollment outpaced male enrollment 6.2% to 0.1%. Total minority undergraduate and graduate enrollment also increased.

While overall engineering graduate school rankings are derived from a combination of 10 quantitative and qualitative indicators, the publication’s engineering specialty rankings are based solely on peer assessments by department heads in each area. Assessment surveys and statistical data were collected in fall 2021 and early 2022.

Every four years, computer science program rankings are included in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Science Schools rankings. In this year’s list, Ohio State ranked 19th in the computer science systems category and 24th in the artificial intelligence category.

In U.S. News & World Report's 2022 Best Colleges issue focused on undergraduate programs, 10 departments within the College of Engineering placed among the best in the country. Overall, Ohio State’s undergraduate engineering program ranked first in Ohio, and 16th among public universities nationwide.
