Posted: December 7, 2021

The Ohio State University’s student chapter of Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE)—11-time recipient of the Gold Award of the Chapter Recognition Program—has hosted the Leadership Summit for many years.  This year, however, they hosted Ohio State’s first-ever Artificial Intelligence Conference.

The conference was multiple days during the first week of November which allowed many Ohio State students to experience and learn how the industry is changing with artificial intelligence. There was a mix of in-person and virtual sessions. The types of sessions ranged from professionals in various industries to panels with professors and grad students discussing their research in AI, a coding session with Python, and more.

The AI Conference had industry representatives from

  • Abbott,
  • Path Robotics,
  • Hormel Foods,
  • Stray Bombay,
  • Generate Capital,
  • Spatial AI,
  • Nationwide Children's Hospital,
  • And more!

In addition, three ISE Professors, Parinaz Naghizadeh, Mike Groeber, and Mike Rayo with interest in AI research held a panel session.

All of the recorded sessions and the presentations, as well as speaker info, can be found here.

The goal of the AI Conference was to bridge the gap between students and emerging technologies in many different industries. Since AI is a growing topic in many industries, the Ohio State student chapter of IISE  had great success and looks forward to seeing where this conference can take them next!
