Biography: Rob Savage is recognized as a people leadership, systems improvement, customer focused and breakthrough change leader who is now consulting and in Board roles. He retired from YUM in 2017 after a successful career as YUM WCO and TB COO.

Rob initially joined Taco Bell in 1993 as a Market Manager and progressed through a number of field and RSC-based roles, becoming COO in 2002. As TB COO, Rob lead performance and improvement of over 6,000 company and franchise restaurants throughout the U.S., in the areas of people development, guest service, restaurant systems and profitability. Taco Bell served more than 35 million customers each week, employed more than 160,000 team members, and was recognized for industry leadership in customer satisfaction and profitability. Under his leadership, Taco Bell improved to become a World Class Operator receiving YUM’s recognition as it’s best operating brand and was recognized by QSR magazine as top brand in 2012 and 2013. 

In 2014 Rob was promoted to Global COO for Pizza Hut in leading a global reorganization where he successfully established a global operating structure and platform across 100 counties for the Pizza Hut brand. Additionally, In 2015, Rob became YUM Chief World Class Operations Officer responsible for global leadership for YUM’s worldwide efforts.

Prior to joining Taco Bell, Rob held Operations and General Management leadership roles with General Motors and Valeo Engine Cooling.​ Significant manufacturing impact was delivered in quality, margin improvement, people leadership and world class operating performance.

​Rob graduated from Ohio State University with an Industrial and Systems engineering degree as a General Motors Scholar in 1983. In 2006, the Ohio State College of Engineering honored Rob by naming him "2006 Distinguished Alumnus". The award was presented in recognition of Rob's achievements and contributions to his profession. He continues to serve as an advisor to the industrial systems engineering program.

Rob has served on a variety of community and charitable boards throughout his career including roles with Junior Achievement, JDRF, the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens (whose primary mission is to address the national teenage drop-out crisis by supporting teen programs through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America) and on the Boys & Girls Club of America Board of Trustees for the Pacific Region.

Rob and his wife Susie (OSU alum ’83) now split their time between North East Ohio and Southern California. They have two grown children.
