Vignesh is a 2014 graduate of Ohio State’s ISE Department.  He completed his Green Belt Certification (Capstone) project with OSU Med Center and focused on Fault Tree Analysis and Process Improvement for the Surgical Instrument Sterilization process at OSU Medical Center. He is a member of the ISE ILSS and Operational Analytics Young Professional Advisory Council for our Department.

In his role as a Data Analytics Specialist, he focuses on analyzing data using statistical methods and tools, to help leadership teams understand operational risks and benefits in order to make quantified decisions. (Analyzing data to create dashboards with quantified metrics, assessing and setting benchmarks, building predictive models and understanding variation with respect to metrics).

This seminar should be of interest to all ISE’s but in particular to our growing number of UG’s and Grad Students focusing in the Analytics area, specialization. He will overview Data Analytics in the context of the transformation happening in Healthcare and then provide examples of specific projects he has been working on. 

Vignesh Gundesha is a Data Analytics Specialist at the James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Center in Columbus, Ohio. He is in charge of analytics for the James Operating Rooms, the Robotics Surgery program, and business operations for the Cancer Program Analytics team. He received his B.S. from Ohio State University, in 2014, and is a graduate of the Industrial Engineering department. His areas of interests are: analytics, statistics & modeling, strategy, and decision making. In his free time he likes to read, solve brain teasers, or help people build fantasy brackets using statistics. Some of his favorite books/podcasts that he recommends are: ‘Zero to One’ by Peter Thiel, ‘Thinking, Fast and Slow’ by Daniel Kahneman, and ‘The psychology of human misjudgment’ by Charlie Munger. His future plans and interests include going back to graduate school to learn and develop skills related to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He is also fascinated with the idea of setting up hydroponic farms.
