Development of An Assessment Tool for Identifying and Evaluating Risk Factors for Lower Extremity Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders

Various assessment tools are widely available as the tools for identifying and evaluating the risk factors which can be utilized by occupational safety and health practitioners in determining proper risk control program for minimizing musculoskeletal disorders. However, the available tools have several limitations related to the abilities in assessing the risk factors associated with lower extremity work-related musculoskeletal disorders (LE-WMSDs). This study is conducted to develop a novel assessment tool that has the ability to identify and evaluate a comprehensive, evidence-based range of risk factors associated with LE-WMSDs. The proposed tool address the risk factors determined based on literature reviews and subject-matter expert evaluations using the Delphi technique. A preliminary validity assessment, reliability assessment and usability assessment of the proposed tool are also performed as the other parts of the study.
Manufacturing Strategies to Predict and Prevent Edge Cracking in Sheet Metal Forming

Edge cracking is a common problem in sheet metal forming, mainly for Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS). This issue can be approached from the point of view of either prediction, using material testing methods and finite element simulation, or prevention, using different blanking/piercing techniques. The main objective of this research is to collect/propose the guidelines for blanking from a practical point of view. To achieve this objective, blanking experiments and finite element models are required for different materials and thicknesses. The expected results of this research are, initially, industry oriented.
