Community Building and Reflection Week

All dates for this event occur in the past.

On Tuesday, November 28th from 1:00-2:00pm, the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering will be hosting a gathering in 210 Baker Systems to give thanks and to give back to our community.

We are requesting donations of non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and new or gently used socks and mittens, which will be donated to a local homeless shelter.

Cookies and coffee will be served. All faculty, staff, and students are invited. We hope to see everyone there!

This event is part of the College of Engineering's Community Building and Reflection Week.

The primary purpose of this week is to recognize the importance of creating a college-wide culture that encourages the values of giving, dialogue, diversity and health and wellness. At the same time, it is important to recognize that it has been one year since the attack on our campus. Messaging during this week will acknowledge the event, share actions taken since the attack and continue to build a resilient environment through dialogue, diversity and taking care of one’s self.

Community Building and Reflection Week is purposefully held the week following Thanksgiving to bring focus to these important values during a time where many experience increased levels of stress and anxiety brought on by the pressures due to the anniversary of the attack, exams, holidays and the change of seasons.

Community Building and Reflection Week will emphasize the following themes:

  • Building Resiliency in pursuit of University values and positive future for all members of the University community, the city, state and nation.
  • Give thanks, give back and focus on building a positive future together.
  • Engage, share and learn from and with our community members who are different and similar through dialogue and conversation.
  • Increase awareness and education about University resources to meet individual and community needs.
