Academic Advising

Autumn Semester 2022 Advising Options

No drop-ins or appointments during Thanksgiving Break (November 23-25.)

Please remember that e-mail is best for quick questions only (e.g. dropping a course, changing your specialization track, etc.).
Drop-ins are a great way to have a conversation with an advisor and discuss scheduling for the next semester.
Longer conversations such as reviewing a schedule projection require an appointment. Be sure to schedule your appointment at least a week or two in advance, especially during scheduling season!

In-Person Drop-ins

You can drop-in for a 5-10 minute advising conversation any Wednesday that classes are in session between 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. (EST) in Baker Systems 210. Just check in at the front desk when you arrive.

Virtual Drop-ins

You can virtually drop-in for a 5-10 minute advising conversation any Thursday that classes are in session between 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (EST). Drop-ins will end promptly at 4:00 p.m. so please check in early and be ready for a possible wait.

In-Person and Zoom Appointments

These are 30-minute meetings that are appropriate for anything requiring long-term planning (such as graduation plans, financial aid appeals, reinstatement petitions, ROTC forms, etc.) and concerns about academic progress. Please prepare in advance for your appointment as much as possible (run a degree audit, have your schedule projection draft, etc.) and be prepared to take notes.

OnCourse is the website you should use to schedule an appointment with your assigned advisor ( You will need to choose from one of the following appointment reasons when making your appointment. Note that each reason has an in-person or remote option, so choose what is best for you.

  • Academic Status/Academic Success Support
  • Checking Progress
  • Explore/Declare a Major (Students not in pre-ISE or ISE should choose this option.)
  • Graduation
  • Long-Term Course/Schedule/Degree Planning
  • Schedule for Next Term
  • Other

Please e-mail Leslie Dowler if you experience difficulty when using OnCourse to schedule an appointment.
