Casting is one of the older manufacturing processes known to man. Metal is melted down and poured into a form to produce a useful part. The most common method for this is to use silica sand to create the cavity into which the metal is poured. The part that is produce requires little if any post process clean up making it an efficient and useful manufacturing process.
